- Aspartame, which is found in Equal and NutraSweet is 200 times sweeter than natural sugar! Though it is calorie-free, research has linked it with migraines in some people.
- Saccharin, found in Sweet’N Low is 500 times sweeter than sugar! It’s also calorie-free, but research has actually linked it to more weight gain due to the secondary effects of craving more sweets.
- Sucralose, otherwise known as Splenda, is 600 times sweeter than sugar! Like the others, it’s calorie-free. Sucralose is made by adding chlorine to sugar molecules. It’s been linked to increased stomach sensitivity and headaches.
